Getting In and Out of the Berth in Different Wind Conditions

Presented by SheSails@RSAYS

Ever worried about a soft landing when you come in to berth your boat or, do you always leave the docking up to your other half!!  Whatever it is, there is a lot to consider when you are parking a boat, and the best laid plans can go astray with differing wind conditions, tides, the type of berth, the need to reverse or drive in and many other factors.

Di Moncrieth, an experienced 25-year cruiser, will present tips on the dock in very practical session that will get you safely in and out of your berth.  And then our skippers will take you to their boats for a hands-on session where you will have a go at getting on and off the dock.

And what sort of sailing event would it be, without the opportunity to join your fellow sailors at the end of the session for a drink and lunch on the deck (not included in price).

Run through the RSAYS Sailing Academy.

Time 10:30am – 1pm
Cost $20 (includes sailing insurance for participants)

Movie Night

Presented by SheSails@RSAYS

All hands-on deck in the Dinghy Shed for our movie night.  Join us for an evening of sailing adventure on the high seas.  We are going to keep you in suspense but know that you will be seeing a movie with some of the best sailors in the world in an ocean race that is one of the longest and the oldest, and has a real connection to Adelaide yacht racing scene.

You can grab a chair at the Club, or like the outdoor cinema bring your own bean bag and warm clothes as it can get cold in the Dinghy Shed. The movie night is a fundraiser for the J24 program at RSAYS.

$10 food boxes will be available and include popcorn, choc tops, cheese and pizza.  Everything you need for a great night at the movies.

We have some great raffle prizes with tickets for just $5, or two for $8. The movie starts at 7pm, so please arrive earlier to organise a drink and something to eat. Movie tickets are only $10, but be prepared to buy a raffle ticket.

Ps If the suspense is killing you, just call the Club to find out what will be on show.

Sea Cadets Spring Holiday Camp

The RSAYS Sea Cadets will be holding a week long camp during the October school holidays.

The camp is designed for young people aged 12-17 years and will involve 5 days of on water activities including dinghy sailing, J24 keelboats and a day out on the One and All down the Port River.

With days out on the water and nights spent under the stars camping in tents here at the Club, it will be a great opportunity to learn new skills and make new friends.
