SSW through S to E
Note: Anchorage subject to severe gully winds at times and a SW swell can make the anchorage uncomfortable.
Rapid Bay Anchorage:
Vessels can anchor anywhere in the bay that draft and conditions permit; however, many favour the area off the beach to the east of the jetty. The holding is generally good over a weed bottom
The bay was previously used for loading limestone from the quarry immediately behind the shore line. Warning lights (QW1s) have been positioned at the western and eastern corners of the remains of the old jetty.
